Tragic stabbing of 15-year-old Deshaun in Highbury Fields – police desperate for witnesses
Fifteen-year-old Deshaun was fatally stabbed near Highbury Fields, N5, just before 9pm on Thursday, 4 August. Despite the quick response from officers and London Ambulance Service paramedics, young Deshaun tragically died later in hospital.
Police plead for witnesses to break silence
Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Yorke from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command urged anyone who was around the scene to speak up. “We know many youngsters and adults were nearby when Deshaun was attacked,” she said. “We especially want anyone with footage of the incident, or who saw someone carrying a knife, to come forward.”
“I understand some may be reluctant to speak, but protecting a murderer helps no one. Please do the right thing.”
Heartbroken family issue powerful appeal
Deshaun’s family described him as a beloved son, brother, nephew and cousin. A family spokesperson said:
“Deshaun was only 15 and didn’t get to live his life. With Christmas approaching, it’s unbearable to face the season without him. We’re devastated and still trying to come to terms with this.”
“We understand people may be scared to talk to police but this is murder. Someone knows what happened that night. Justice won’t bring Deshaun back, but we need to know the truth.”
“No family should endure the pain of being told their child has been fatally wounded. We urge parents to talk to their kids about the dangers of carrying knives and street violence. Social media may glamorise it, but knives kill.”
“Think before you pick up a knife — it could be your last decision with devastating consequences.”

Arrests made in ongoing investigation
- Three 14-year-old boys and two 15-year-old boys arrested on suspicion of murder.
- A 34-year-old woman arrested for assisting an offender.
