Blaze Breaks Out Near Woodhatch Kebab Shop

A fire ripped through conifer trees and a fence beside a Woodhatch kebab shop last night, sparking panic among locals. Quick-thinking residents raised the alarm before the fire brigade arrived to douse the flames.

Flames Spread Fast – Residents React

The fire started near a house opposite the kebab shop, swiftly engulfing nearby conifers and a fence. At first, some thought it was a bonfire, but it soon became clear it was a serious blaze.

“I just thought it was a bonfire at first, but then quickly realised it wasn’t. I called the fire brigade too, and well done to the Woodhatch Kebab Shop for doing all they could,” said eyewitness Samantha Williams, who was walking her dogs at the time.

Firefighters Battle the Blaze

The fire brigade arrived promptly and tackled the fire with hoses. Amy Grice, a witness driving past, said:

“It looked like a garden fire. Sadly, someone’s fence and the conifers caught alight. The fire brigade were there, so I’m assuming they have it under control.”

Heroic Rescue and Community Relief

David Burt shared how his husband heroically rescued two unaware women from the smoking house:

“The conifers went up, and my hubby got the two ladies out. They were unaware of the fire.”

Residents breathed a sigh of relief that no one was hurt. Kelly Abernethy confirmed:

“It’s the house opposite the kebab shop. Everyone got out okay, thank God.”

Cause Still Unknown – Rumours Quashed

Speculation about an electric car fire was quickly dismissed by local admin Matthew Holdsworth:

“Exceedingly unlikely to be an electric car, but please don’t let wild guesses get in the way of fact.”

Road Closures and Aftermath

The road remained closed late into the evening. Resident Suzanne Peters reported the closure at 9:15 pm, while Frank Burch saw several fire engines at the scene but no visible smoke from his bus window.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are now probing the cause of the fire. Meanwhile, the community and emergency services have been praised for their quick response, preventing what could have become a major disaster. Staff at Woodhatch Kebab Shop also received kudos for their efforts during the chaos.
