Kent Police Crack Down on Dartford Car Meet
Kent Police are banning a big car meet in Dartford this weekend amid fears of anti-social behaviour. A dispersal order is in place from 7pm on Friday, July 31, until 6pm on Sunday, August 2, covering the entire borough.
Dispersal Order Means No Return
The exact location of the car gathering is still unknown, but police have the power to break up any groups and kick people and vehicles away for the duration. Anyone sent packing isn’t allowed back — or they risk further penalties, including having their vehicles seized.
Local Residents Fed Up With Noise and Trouble
Inspector Sarah Rivett from Dartford’s Community Safety Unit said: “While some just want to meet friends and enjoy cars, a small minority cause serious distress to local residents. These gatherings bring anti-social behaviour complaints and worry the community.”
“Dispersal orders let us move on groups likely to cause trouble. We work with partner agencies to tackle anti-social behaviour and urge everyone to report concerns by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency. You can also report issues online.”
