Man Shot Dead by Armed Police in Kent Murder Hunt
An armed police operation in Kent ended in a fatal shooting last night. Officers shot dead a man during a raid linked to the murder of 73-year-old Roy Blackman.
Police Open Fire in Murder Investigation
The incident unfolded around 8:30pm in Smiths Lane, Goldenhurst. The police were conducting a pre-planned operation connected to the murder of Roy Blackman, who was killed at his home in Biddenden on March 21.
Recovered Firearm and Fatal Injury
A Kent Police spokesperson confirmed that shots were fired during the operation. One man suffered fatal injuries at the scene. A firearm was recovered by officers.
“Formal identification of the deceased has not yet taken place,” the spokesperson added. “We believe he is the man we were seeking in connection with the Biddenden murder.”
Investigation Now With Independent Police Complaints Commission
The case has been handed over to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, as is mandatory following police shootings. The force continues to investigate the events leading up to the fatal encounter.
