Wanted Murder Suspect Nabbed in Bolton Town Centre
Greater Manchester Police have cracked a major case by arresting an 18-year-old man linked to the murder of Susanne Galvin. Officers spotted the suspect in Bolton last night during a routine patrol as part of Operation Overspill, a crackdown aimed at making the streets safer.
Suspicious Behaviour Sparks Arrest
Neighbourhood police on patrol noticed the young man acting oddly and stopped him for a search. The search revealed his connection to Susanne Galvin’s murder in September. He was immediately taken into custody for questioning by GMP’s Major Incident Team, who are leading the investigation.
Operation Overspill Wins Praise and Awards Nod
Chief Inspector Mark Mangnall of GMP Bolton offered his condolences to Susanne’s family, saying,
“Our thoughts remain with the family of Susanne, who tragically lost her life earlier this year.”
Mangnall credited the success to the ongoing community safety efforts.
“By proactively patrolling in uniform and plain clothes, we can spot dodgy behaviour and reassure those enjoying a night out. Just last night, the team came across the suspect and took a dangerous man off the streets.”
Highlighting teamwork, he added,
“Working with our partners, we’ll keep making Bolton safe for visitors and residents alike.”
Impressively, Operation Overspill has also been shortlisted for the national Tilley Awards, recognising its impact in tackling crime at a local level.
