Massive Blaze Tears Through Childs Hill Home
Just after midday on Wednesday, a huge fire ripped through the roof of a detached house in Childs Hill, Barnet, causing chaos and sparking a major emergency response.
Ten Fire Engines and 70 Firefighters Battle Inferno
The London Fire Brigade sprang into action at 12:14pm, sending crews from Hendon, Kentish Town, Paddington, and nearby stations. Around 70 firefighters and 10 fire engines raced to tackle the blaze on Platt’s Lane.
The fire had engulfed nearly three-quarters of the three-storey home’s roof. Firefighters used a 32-metre ladder to attack the flames from above, gaining the upper hand and bringing the fire under control just before 3pm.
Cause Under Scrutiny After Dramatic Rescue
The Brigade confirmed the fire was contained by 2:58pm but said the investigation continues. “The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Brigade’s Fire Investigation Team,” they explained.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the dramatic blaze. The intense operation serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing danger of house fires lurking in London’s suburbs.
