Man Held Over Horrific Rape of Toddler in Yarmouth Park
A 60-year-old man from Freshwater remains in custody after the appalling sexual assault of a 3-year-old girl in Yarmouth. Police have been granted an extra 24 hours to question the suspect as they hunt for crucial evidence.
Brutal Attack in Fort Victoria Country Park
The shocking incident happened just after 3pm on Monday, 31 August, in a wooded area of Fort Victoria Country Park. The tiny victim was seriously assaulted, prompting an urgent investigation.
Police Plea for Dash Cam Footage and Witnesses
Detective Chief Inspector Liam Davies said officers are working around the clock. He urged anyone who drove into Fort Victoria via Westhill Lane between 11.30am and 4pm on the day to check their dash cams immediately.
“You may not realise it, but you might have captured something vital,” he warned. “We also want dog walkers and other visitors who were at the park that day to come forward. We know others spoke to the victim’s mother.”
Community Called on to Help Crack the Case
Superintendent Sarah Jackson, Isle of Wight District Commander, thanked the public for their support so far and urged anyone with information to speak up.
“Our additional patrols remain in the area. If you have any concerns or information, please approach the officers or contact police,” she said.
