Kent Police Calls on Former Officers to Return Amid Covid Crisis
Force Seeks Extra Hands to Tackle Pandemic Demands
Kent Police is urgently calling on retired officers, staff, volunteers, and Special Constables to head back to duty as the county battles the coronavirus emergency. With policing needs shifting rapidly during the pandemic, the force wants to keep public safety at the forefront.
Extra patrols are already out in key public spots, enforcing government rules to stay home and only travel when absolutely necessary. But that’s not enough.
Return to Duty or Join as a Volunteer
If you’ve served with Kent Police before, now’s your chance to step up again. A special webpage – kent.police.uk/canyouhelp – lets you register your interest to return either as a full officer, a Special Constabulary member, or a volunteer.
The force will match your skills to the roles most needed and get you back on board swiftly.
Deputy Chief Calls for Community Heroes
“Policing is about protecting people from harm and I can think of no modern set of circumstances where there was a more pressing need for people to be protected than now,” said Deputy Chief Constable Tony Blaker.
“Kent Police is an innovative force that values those who served before. We want retirees and volunteers to come forward and help us support the NHS and keep Kent safe.”
“Many former officers and staff will want to help during these unprecedented times – and we want to hear from you.”
