Major Portsmouth Road Shut After Woman Hit by Bus
A major road in Portsmouth has been shut after a woman was struck and trapped under a bus late on Saturday night.
Emergency Services Rush to Park Lane
Firefighters from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were called to Park Lane shortly after 11.30pm on January 29 following reports of a female trapped beneath a bus.
Two fire engines, a rescue tender, an officer, and an ambulance raced to the scene. Fire crews worked quickly to free the woman from under the vehicle.
Road Closures Disrupt City Centre
Hampshire Police have closed several surrounding roads, causing chaos for motorists and pedestrians alike. Affected streets include:
- St George’s Road
- Gunwharf Road
- Park Road
- Burnaby Road
- Ordnance Row
Victim in Ambulance Care; Investigation Underway
“One person has been released from under the bus by firefighters and South Central Ambulance Service. The person has now been handed into the care of SCAS. We are unable to release any further details at this time,” said a Hampshire Constabulary spokesperson at the scene.
Officers arrived within minutes of the 11.36pm alert and continue to manage the scene alongside emergency crews.
