Woman Seriously Injured After Bus Collision in Portsmouth

Police are hunting witnesses after a 59-year-old woman suffered a serious head injury when she was hit by a single-decker bus in Portsmouth.

Crash on Copnor Road Shuts Road for Hours

The smash happened just after 5pm yesterday on Copnor Road. The pedestrian was rushed by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital, where she remains in a serious condition.

Officers from the Roads Policing Unit at Havant police station closed the road to investigate the scene. The street finally reopened at 8.30pm.

Police Seek Female Bus Passenger and Other Witnesses

Acting Police Sergeant James Chapman urged anyone with information to come forward. He made a special appeal to a female bus passenger who left before officers could speak to her.

We have obtained CCTV footage from the bus which will be crucial to our inquiry. We’d like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision,” said Sgt Chapman.

The police also thanked the public for their patience while the road was closed for detailed investigations.
