Man Killed in Wimbledon Lorry Crash – Police Hunt Witnesses

Detectives are hunting for witnesses after a man was hit and killed by a lorry in Wimbledon early Tuesday morning.

Body Found on Durnsford Road

Police were called to Durnsford Road, SW19, at around 5.40am on 21 January following reports of a body on the road. Emergency services arrived but the man, believed to be 49, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation Underway, Driver Traced

Detective Sergeant Andy Russell from the Met’s South West Area Roads & Transport Policing team said they have identified the man’s next of kin. “Formal identification will take place in due course,” he added.

Officers have also traced and spoken to the driver of a blue curtained Volvo articulated lorry involved in the collision. The driver is cooperating with the police.

Not Treating Death as Suspicious

The investigation remains open but police confirmed they are not treating the death as suspicious at this time. They continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
