New Police Deputy Boss Andy McDonald Returns to Isle of Wight
Chief Inspector Andy McDonald is back on the Isle of Wight as the new Deputy District Commander, teaming up with Superintendent Rob Mitchell to boost local policing. McDonald, a former RAF serviceman, kicked off his police career in 2002 and has spent the last 16 months tackling crime in Portsmouth.

While leading police teams in Portsmouth, McDonald cracked down on street gangs and worked closely with partners to protect vulnerable people. Now, he’s back on home turf – having grown up on the Island and attended Medina High School – ready to use his hard-earned experience to make a real difference.

“It’s good to be back on the Isle of Wight,” said McDonald. “I’m committed to using all of my experience and local knowledge to prioritise excellent local policing, putting victims first and hunting down criminals who threaten our community.”
