Horrific Burn Attack on 12-Year-Old in Blackpool Park
Boy’s T-Shirt Set Ablaze in Shocking Magic Trick Attack
A 12-year-old boy was left with severe burns after two older males set his t-shirt on fire in Bancroft Park, Blackpool. The victim, who was with a friend, was approached by the suspects between 8-9pm on Tuesday, November 1st.
The attackers asked if he wanted to see a magic trick before dousing his shirt with flame from a cigarette lighter, causing significant injuries to his torso. A passer-by rushed to the boy’s aid and got him to hospital for urgent treatment.
Two Men in Black Spotted Near Scene
Detectives describe the first suspect as tall, dressed head-to-toe in black: a black hoody with the hood up, a black mask, cargo-style black trousers, and black leather gloves.
The second offender is smaller, also wearing a black hoody with hood up, black joggers, and fingerless gloves. He hid his face with his hand during the incident.
Police Plea for Witnesses
“This was a horrific assault on a young boy and he has suffered some really significant burn injuries which will need ongoing hospital treatment,” said Detective Inspector Kirsty Wyatt of Blackpool CID.
“We appeal to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area around the time of the attack to come forward. We’ll have extra patrols in Bancroft Park over the coming days. Please contact officers with any information or concerns.”
