False Alarm at Isle of Wight Chippy Sparks Fire Crew Rush

Firefighters on the Isle of Wight raced to Brading High Street this lunchtime after reports of smoke pouring from a local chip shop roof.

Smoke or Steam? Chip Shop Fire Averted

Two crews from Ryde were dispatched after a worried neighbour spotted plumes of what appeared to be smoke. On arrival, the team discovered the source was actually steam, not fire. The owner of Brothers Chippy was simply cleaning up inside.

Crews Return to Station

The fire service confirmed the false alarm shortly after 11:30am and left the scene to return to their base on Nicholson Road, Ryde.

A spokeswoman for Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue said, “We sent multiple resources as a precaution shortly after 11:30 this morning.”
