Elderly Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Crash in Plumstead

An elderly pensioner, believed to be in his 60s, was tragically killed after being hit by a car whose driver fled the scene. The fatal collision happened this afternoon on Bannockburn Road, Plumstead, at around 2.40pm on Friday, July 1.

Emergency Crews Rush to Scene

Paramedics, police, and a London Air Ambulance quickly responded to the incident, with the air ambulance landing at a nearby primary school. Officers attempted CPR at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at 3.40pm.

“We were called at 2.40pm today to reports of a road traffic collision on Bannockburn Road,” an ambulance spokesperson said. “Despite the efforts of our medics, a man sadly died at the scene.”

Police Hunt Hit-and-Run Driver

Scotland Yard is urgently searching for the vehicle involved and its driver, who failed to stop after the collision. They are appealing to anyone with dash cam footage or CCTV from nearby homes to come forward.

The victim’s next of kin have not yet been informed.
