Elderly Man Dies in Hit-and-Run Tragedy in Plumstead

An elderly man in his 60s was killed after being struck by a car in Plumstead on Friday afternoon. The driver sped off, leaving the victim to die at the scene.

Emergency Services Rush to Bannockburn Road

The crash happened around 2.40pm on Bannockburn Road. An air ambulance touched down at a nearby primary school as paramedics worked frantically to save the man. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at 3.40pm.

“We were called at 2.40pm today to reports of a road traffic collision,” said a London Ambulance Service spokesperson. “We dispatched an ambulance crew, a paramedic, and the London Air Ambulance. Sadly, despite our medics’ best efforts, a man died at the scene.”

Police Hunt Hit-and-Run Driver

Police are urgently seeking the vehicle and driver who fled the scene without stopping. Officers want anyone with dash cam footage or CCTV that might help their enquiries to get in touch.

The victim’s next of kin have not yet been informed.
