Hackney Stabbing Victim Named: 20-Year-Old Jason Junior Romeo

Police have named the victim of a fatal stabbing in Hackney as 20-year-old Jason Junior Romeo. Detectives believe this was a gang-related killing.

Nightmare on Bodney Road

The horror unfolded just before 6pm on Tuesday, February 18, when officers and paramedics were called to Bodney Road, E5. Jason was found with a stab wound. Despite desperate attempts to save him, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two Men Arrested as Police Launch Murder Probe

Two men in their 20s have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody. Detective Superintendent Kelly Allen, leading the inquiry, said:

“Jason had his whole life ahead of him, but this senseless attack has taken that from both him and his loved ones. Our thoughts remain with his family, who are being supported by specialist officers.”

She urged anyone with information or footage of the incident to come forward. Those with tips can call 101 quoting CAD 5635/18Feb or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Community in Shock Over Rising Knife Crime

Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, overseeing policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, called the killing “devastating” for Jason’s family and the local community.

“It is heartbreaking that another young life has been lost to knife crime. We are working closely with partners and Hackney Council to tackle the causes and effects of this violence.”

He also issued a message to youngsters carrying knives:

“If you feel the need to carry a knife, talk to someone you trust – a parent, teacher, or youth leader. We can help you step away from that path safely.”

Police Crackdown Continues

Forensic teams remain at the scene, with a police cordon in place on Bodney Road. Additional uniformed and plain-clothed officers have been deployed to deter further violence. The investigation is ongoing, focusing on possible gang links.

“We are working tirelessly to reduce the risk of further violence while uncovering the circumstances behind this tragic attack,”

added DCS Conway.

Calls for Action Grow Louder

Jason’s death is the latest young life claimed by London’s knife crime epidemic. Community leaders and residents are demanding more resources for prevention and youth support programs to stop the bloodshed.

“Your information could make all the difference in solving this case and preventing more heartbreak,”

concluded DS Allen as Hackney mourns another victim of violent crime.
