Body Found in Southampton Flat: Police Launch Investigation
Police are probing the discovery of a man’s body in a Southampton flat on Westridge Road. Officers were called to the scene just after 4.15pm on Friday, April 29, following a call from someone inside the property.
Isolated Incident But Shocked Residents on Edge
Detective Chief Inspector Nick Heelan said the investigation is ongoing with several lines being explored. He emphasised: “We believe this to be an isolated incident with no risk to the wider community.”
Still, he acknowledged the local residents’ concerns and confirmed that neighbourhood officers will be patrolling the area to reassure them.
Forensics Sweeping Multi-Occupancy Property
The body was found in a multi-occupancy flat, where forensic teams are now carrying out extensive searches. Police have relocated all residents from the building and placed them in temporary accommodation while the scene remains cordoned off.
Officers warned the cordon could stay in place for some time and thanked locals for their patience.
Appeal for Witnesses After Possible Dispute
Police revealed there may have been a dispute at the address earlier on Friday. They urge anyone who saw or heard anything to come forward. A post-mortem is underway to determine the cause of death, while identification checks continue.
