Racist Graffiti Spree Rocks Dulwich Hamlet FC
Police in Southwark are hunting a man after racist slurs were repeatedly daubed on a sign at Dulwich Hamlet Football Club. The vile graffiti appeared in the early hours between 5am and 6am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 21 July to 9 August.
Club Forced to Replace Sign and Install CCTV
Despite staff scrubbing the offensive scrawl clean multiple times, the abuse persisted. Eventually, the club replaced the sign and installed CCTV to catch the culprit. Their efforts paid off on 9 August when a member of staff snapped the man red-handed and passed his photo to the police.
Community Shocked as Abuse Escalates
Club Chairman Ben Clasper said, “We believe our recent groundskeeping upset someone, but we were horrified to see the graffiti get worse — turning into extreme racist and anti-immigration hate.”
He added, “The early-morning visits suggest this man is local. We hope someone in the community recognises him so police can act.”
Police Plea: Help Identify Hate Graffiti Culprit
Investigating officer PC Nicolas Wilson said, “This hateful, far-right material is deeply upsetting for local people, staff, and players. Dulwich Hamlet FC is a community pillar — targeting their property like this is unacceptable.”
He warned, “The man is almost certainly local. If you recognise him, please contact police immediately.”
