Triple Murder Shocks Reading’s Forbury Gardens

Thames Valley Police have launched a murder probe after a stabbing spree in Reading left three dead.

Officers rushed to Forbury Gardens around 7pm on June 20 following reports of multiple stabbings. Several victims were taken to hospital, but tragically three died and three others remain seriously injured.

Man Arrested at Scene

A 25-year-old Reading man was detained at the scene and arrested on suspicion of murder. He is now in police custody as detectives dig into the horrific attack.

Police Urge Calm and Vigilance

Detective Chief Superintendent Ian Hunter said: “We have made one arrest and are not looking for anyone else. There is no intelligence to suggest any further danger to the public. However, we urge people to stay alert and report anything suspicious.”

“This is not being treated as a terrorism incident, though we remain open-minded on motives. The attack is not connected to today’s Black Lives Matter protest, which ended hours earlier.”

“We ask anyone with mobile footage to come forward but please don’t share videos online out of respect for victims and families.”

Ongoing Investigation and Police Presence

Police cordons are still in place and will remain for some time during the investigation. A heavy police presence continues in the area as enquiries proceed.

Authorities urge locals to avoid Forbury Gardens for now and thank the community for their patience.

“Our thoughts are with those affected by this tragic incident,” said DCS Hunter. “Keeping the public safe is our top priority. We will do everything to bring justice.”
