Fire horror at Coventry high-rise as 75 firefighters battle blaze

Seven rescued from burning Nauls Mill House

A fierce fire tore through Nauls Mill House in Coventry just before 9pm on Saturday. Five adults and two children were led to safety by emergency crews. Another six residents, including a child, escaped the 16-storey block on Middlesbrough by themselves. Thankfully, no one suffered serious injuries.

Mass evacuation and massive firefighter response

West Midlands Fire Service evacuated a further 19 residents to a nearby library for safety. Firefighters rushed from Coventry, Solihull, and Birmingham, deploying 75 crew members on 13 fire engines to tackle the blaze. They arrived within two minutes of the emergency call and faced a “severe” and “very challenging” fire that spread from the flats to a balcony above.

Fire finally out, investigation underway

The inferno was finally extinguished just after midnight. West Midlands Ambulance Service treated four people for minor injuries at the scene. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the blaze that shook this quiet Coventry community.
