West Midlands Fire Service Snags New Chief Fire Officer
West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has just landed a top new boss. Simon Tuhill, current Deputy Chief Fire Officer at Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue, has been named the new Chief Fire Officer after a tough recruitment battle. He steps in for CFO Brook, who’s chosen to stay put in Warwickshire.
Big Job for Experienced Firefighter
Tuhill is buzzing about the role. “It’s an honour to lead West Midlands Fire Service — truly too good to turn down,” he said. He’s eager to manage and boost a team dedicated to protecting the region.
His career speaks volumes. Tuhill’s firefighting background spans London, Hertfordshire, and Northamptonshire. He’s battled through major crises like the 7/7 bombings and the Grenfell Tower tragedy while with the London Fire Brigade.
Leaders Praise His Vision and Track Record
WMFS officials are impressed. Cllr Rizwan Jalil called Tuhill “an extremely talented candidate” with an impressive history. Vice Chair Cllr Catherine Miks added, “Simon set out a clear vision putting people first. His experience is a massive asset.”
Tuhill holds a Level 7 Certificate in Strategic Incident Command and a Post Graduate Certificate in Leadership in Public Services from the University of Warwick.
Ready to Lead West Midlands into the Future
Tuhill’s appointment awaits Fire Authority approval on November 25. Once official, he’ll spearhead WMFS efforts to sharpen prevention, protection, and emergency response across the West Midlands.
With his proven leadership and frontline experience, Simon Tuhill is set to ignite a fresh chapter for the region’s fire service.
