A pedestrian struck in a suspected hit-and-run collision in Stratford remains in hospital with possibly life-threatening injuries, police have confirmed.
The incident occurred just before 12:20pm on Saturday (March 15) on The Grove, near the junction with Great Eastern Road. Emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of a car colliding with a man in the road.
Major Trauma Response
The London Ambulance Service (LAS) confirmed that paramedics arrived on scene within seven minutes and treated the victim for serious injuries before transporting him to a major trauma centre as a priority. London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched to provide specialist medical support at the scene.
Driver Fled the Scene
According to police, the driver involved in the collision fled before officers arrived, and an active investigation is underway to trace the suspect. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage and appealing for witnesses or dashcam footage from anyone in the area at the time.
Police Statement
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said today:
“The man remains in hospital and his injuries are being treated as possibly life-threatening. Our enquiries to identify and locate the driver continue.”
