Mother and Kids Among Nine Injured in Shocking Clapham Acid Attack

A terrifying acid attack in Clapham South left a mother and her two children screaming in agony as a man hurled a corrosive substance at them. The suspect fled the scene, leaving chaos and pain on Lessar Avenue just before 7:30 PM last evening.

Horrific Scene Unfolds on London Street

Eyewitnesses described the nightmare as the attacker grabbed a toddler from a white car, threw her to the ground twice, then sprayed acid at the woman. One witness said, “It was horrific. The woman was screaming, ‘my eyes! My eyes!’ Her lips were black, her skin looked burnt.”

Good Samaritans rushed in to help, dousing the victims with water to wash away the chemical. The Metropolitan Police arrived quickly to find nine people injured — including three critically hurt: the mother and her two young children.

Manhunt Launched, Police Scramble to Catch Suspect

Police have launched a major hunt, deploying helicopters and forensic teams who inspected a coffee cup possibly used to throw the acid. Detective Superintendent Alexander Castle said, “We believe the substance to be corrosive. Tests are ongoing.”

Five victims were rushed to a major trauma centre, three to a local hospital, and one was treated on scene. Thankfully, injuries to police officers and rescuers were minor.

Community in Shock as Investigation Continues

The Clapham South area remains cordoned off with a strong police presence. Ambulances and fire crews were on hand to aid the injured. Local politicians have condemned the attack. Labour’s Marina Ahmad said, “Victims include children. This is deeply disturbing.” MP Bell Ribeiro-Addy echoed concerns.

This vicious attack is a stark warning of the dangers innocent people face and the urgent need to catch those responsible fast.
