Taylor Swift’s London Shows Go Ahead Despite Vienna Terror Threat
Good news for Swifties! Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour will roll on in London after her Vienna gigs were abruptly cancelled over an alleged terror threat. London Mayor Sadiq Khan confirmed the UK capital is “carrying on” with hosting Swift’s concerts at Wembley Stadium later this month.
Vienna Concerts Axed After Terror Plot Foiled
On August 7, all three of Taylor Swift’s shows at Vienna’s Ernst Happel Stadium were scrapped. Austrian police swooped and arrested two suspected extremists – a 19-year-old and a 17-year-old – linked to a planned attack. Swift had been set to perform on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
Austria’s Interior Minister Gerhard Karner confirmed that “a tragedy was prevented,” drawing chilling parallels with deadly attacks in Paris and Manchester.
London Authorities Brace for Swift’s Wembley Shows
Mayor Sadiq Khan told Sky News, “London is looking forward to welcoming Taylor Swift back. We have a huge amount of experience policing these big events. We’re never complacent, many lessons were learned after the awful Manchester Arena attack.”
Policing minister Diana Johnson added Scotland Yard is reviewing “all the intelligence” ahead of Swift’s five Wembley gigs from August 15-20.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson assured fans: “The Met works closely with venue security and partners to make sure there are robust policing plans. There is nothing to suggest that the situation in Austria will affect events here.” They pledged to keep “any new information under careful review” to protect concertgoers.
Fans Can Relax – London’s Got It Covered
Despite the Vienna scare, Taylor Swift’s London concerts are set to go on without a hitch. Thanks to tight security measures and alert authorities, fans can enjoy the show in a safe environment at Wembley Stadium.
