Man Dies After Brutal Pub Attack in Southampton

A 52-year-old man has died following a savage assault at the Bittern pub in Southampton.

The attack happened at around 9.50pm on Friday, April 19, in the Thornhill Park Road venue. The victim suffered serious head injuries and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital, where he tragically passed away on Sunday morning.

Two Men Arrested Over Assault

Hampshire police’s Major Crime team have arrested two suspects aged 27 and 39 in connection with the attack.

Detective Inspector Lee Macarthur is urging witnesses to come forward. “If you were in the Bittern Public House that night, any information you have could be crucial, no matter how small,” he said.

Police Seek Eyewitnesses and Footage

  • Anyone who saw the incident, but hasn’t spoken to police, should call 101 quoting Operation Bonham.
  • Police are also keen to receive any mobile phone footage or photos of the assault.
