Three Men Still Missing After Didcot Power Station Collapse
A desperate search continues after a partial building collapse at Didcot A Power Station left three workers missing. Over the weekend, a multi-agency rescue team battled dangerous, unstable conditions to recover the missing men’s bodies.
Firefighters, Police and Army Hunt for Missing Workers
Fire crews and Thames Valley Police are joined by structural engineers, demolition experts, and the army in a complex recovery mission. The damaged structure remains unstable, making the operation slow and risky.
Deputy Chief Fire Officer Nathan Travis said: “The site remains extremely unstable and safety is our top priority. We’re working closely with structural experts and expect this will be a prolonged, difficult exercise.”
He added: “Our priority is to recover those missing and return them to their families. We offer our deepest sympathies to the family of the man who died and continue to keep the others in our thoughts.”
Local Residents Urged to Keep Doors and Windows Shut
Residents near the site have been advised to close windows and doors to avoid dust exposure, should the rubble shift further. Officials have reassured the public that no hazardous materials were in the building.
Police and Ambulance Services Stand Ready
Thames Valley Police Assistant Chief Constable Scott Chilton expressed his sympathy for the families. “We cannot imagine what this must be like for them. Police are doing all they can to recover their loved ones and support the families at this terrible time.”
South Central Ambulance Service remains on site, prepared to respond to any casualties recovered by the rescue teams.
