Tragedy at Splash Point: Teen Dies After Falling from Cliffs

Emergency crews rushed to Splash Point in Seaford just before 10pm on Thursday, February 29, 2024, after a 14-year-old boy was found at the foot of the cliffs. Despite frantic efforts by coastguards, firefighters, ambulance teams, police, and the Newhaven Lifeboat crew, the youngster was pronounced dead at the scene.

Massive Rescue Effort Launched

  • Coastguard Helicopter 163 dispatched from Lydd
  • Two East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service appliances
  • South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) officers
  • Sussex Police
  • Newhaven Lifeboat crew

A Sussex Police spokesperson said: “Emergency services responded to an incident at Splash Point in Seaford shortly before 10 pm. A 14-year-old local boy was tragically discovered at the foot of the cliffs and pronounced deceased at the scene.”

They added there are no suspicious circumstances and the case has been handed to the coroner for further inquiry.
