Teen Dies in Tragic Netherton Reservoir Incident
A teenage boy has died after a desperate rescue operation at Lodge Farm Reservoir in Netherton. The West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed the death following a major emergency response on the evening of July 23, 2024.
Rapid Response from Specialist Rescue Teams
Emergency services were alerted at 6.11pm, arriving within nine minutes. Three ambulances, two paramedic officers, and the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) were dispatched to tackle the crisis. James Williams, Assistant Chief Ambulance Officer, expressed deep sorrow, saying, “This is a truly tragic outcome, and we offer our heartfelt condolences to the boy’s family and friends.”
Specialist water rescue paramedics plunged into the water alongside other emergency crews. Despite their efforts, the dive team sadly found the boy deceased at the scene, with paramedics confirming his death.

Williams thanked locals for their cooperation during the ongoing emergency operations, saying, “We would like to thank the public and local community for their continued cooperation whilst emergency colleagues remain at the scene.”
