Woolwich, London – Two individuals have been arrested following the tragic murder of 15-year-old Daejuan Campbell, who has been named today as the victim of a fatal stabbing in Woolwich.
Police were called to Eglinton Road, SE18, at approximately 18:35 on Sunday, 22 September, after reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers found a teenage boy suffering from a stab wound. Despite the swift efforts of officers and paramedics to save him, Daejuan sadly died a short time later.
Today, authorities confirmed Daejuan’s identity, and his family is being supported by specialist officers as they cope with the devastating loss.
Two men, aged 52 and 18, have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in police custody as the investigation unfolds.
Detective Chief Superintendent Trevor Lawry, speaking on the incident, said:
“My thoughts are with Daejuan’s loved ones as they try to come to terms with this heartbreaking incident. The investigation into Daejuan’s death is still in the early stages, and our officers are working tirelessly to piece together what happened on Sunday evening.
Lawry added that local officers will remain in the area to provide support and urged the public to come forward with any information that could aid the investigation.
“I want to appeal to you again and ask if you know anything about the death of young Daejuan. Did you see anything suspicious around the Eglinton Road area? Did you see anyone running away from the area? Do you have any footage? If you do, please contact the police.”
