Two Boys Arrested for Southampton Blaze in Vacant Building

Two boys, aged 11 and 13, have been arrested in Southampton over a suspicious fire that tore through a vacant commercial property on St Mary’s Street.

Fire Sparks Evacuations and Major Police Inquiry

The blaze broke out around 2pm on March 26 at a building still under construction. Firefighters from Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service rushed to the scene. Nearby homes and businesses were evacuated as a safety precaution. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.

Police Narrow Down Suspects After Roof Sightings

Earlier in the investigation, police released images of three individuals seen on the roof just before the fire started. These people have now been identified and cleared of suspicion.

Appeal for Witnesses and Footage

The two boys, both Southampton locals, remain in custody as inquiries continue. Officers urge anyone who was near the site before the fire or captured footage on their phones to come forward. “Any information could be vital,” said the police.
