Tragic Crash in Smethwick Leaves Two Dead, Two Critical
Two people have died and two others are fighting for their lives after a car smashed into a wall on Oldbury Road, Smethwick, late last night.
Chaos at 11.40pm
West Midlands Ambulance Service rushed to the scene at 11.40pm following the collision. They dispatched three ambulances, two paramedic officers, a MERIT trauma doctor, a critical care paramedic, and a BASICS emergency doctor.
Five Victims in Total
On arrival, crews found five victims. Among them were a man and a teenage boy, both pedestrians, who were critically injured.
“Unfortunately, despite the best efforts of ambulance staff it became clear that nothing more could be done to save them and they were confirmed deceased at the scene,” said a West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman.
Two other pedestrians—a woman and a man—sustained life-threatening injuries and were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital after receiving advanced trauma care on site and en route.
The car’s driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was treated and discharged at the scene.
