Two Injured as BMW Crashes into Street Furniture in Orpington
Serious Crash Hits Crofton Lane
Two people were rushed to hospital after a blue BMW smashed into street furniture on Crofton Lane, Orpington, at around 2:04pm on Tuesday, May 20. The collision left the car badly damaged, with its bonnet crumpled and the roof cut off by rescue teams.
Dramatic Rescue Operation
Firefighters, paramedics, and police scrambled to the scene. Using specialist cutting equipment, emergency crews had to remove the BMW’s roof to free the trapped occupants. A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called at 2.04pm to reports of a road traffic collision in Crofton Lane, Orpington. We treated two patients at the scene and took them to hospital as a priority.”
Their current conditions remain unknown.
Fire Brigade Brings Incident Under Control
The London Fire Brigade confirmed the situation was under control by 3:57pm. A spokesperson added:
“We were called at 2.43pm to a vehicle collision with street furniture. Two people were treated at the scene and taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.”
Police Launch Investigation
The Metropolitan Police are probing the cause of the crash. It’s unclear whether any arrests or traffic offences will be made. Meanwhile, traffic disruption affected the area as emergency services cleared the scene.
