Popular Caramel Snack Pulled from UK Shelves Over Allergy Scare
Major UK supermarkets Tesco, Asda, and Morrisons have urgently recalled a widely loved snack after undeclared allergens were spotted in certain batches.
Egg Allergens Missing from Labels Trigger Recalls
Morrisons has flagged its “Market Street 18 Caramel Crispy Bites” for possibly containing egg, which isn’t listed on the label. Customers should check packs dated up to December 12 and return them for a full refund. Do not eat these products.
Asda’s “20-pack 1 Caramel Mini Crisp Bites” is also affected. Any packets with a Best Before Date up to and including December 14 must be returned to the store. No receipt is needed for a refund.
Tesco’s “20-pack Crispy Caramel Bites,” dated up to December 4, face the same safety issue. Buyers are urged to avoid consumption and return the item for a full refund. Tesco apologised for the inconvenience and advises customers to contact their Customer Services for questions.
More Allergens Found in Deluxe Salad Product
A separate alert has been issued for a salad – “Deluxe Red Cabbage with Apple, Dried Cranberries and Spices” – due to undisclosed milk content. This poses a risk for anyone with milk allergies or intolerances.
Why This Matters
Undeclared allergens on food labels put allergy sufferers at serious risk. The recalls highlight the importance of strict labelling standards and consumer vigilance. If you’ve bought any of the affected products, return them to the store immediately for a full refund and keep your loved ones safe.
