Four-Hour Shutdown and Ongoing Closures
The landslip hit yesterday, forcing a complete line closure for four hours while engineers scrambled to assess the damage. Though a brief reopening gave hope, further ground movement shut the line again. The closure looks set to last all day, much to commuter frustration.
Southeastern Suspends Key Routes, Rolls Out Limited Service
- Rainham to Sittingbourne trains suspended.
- London Victoria to Ramsgate/Dover via Chatham services cancelled.
- London St Pancras to Ramsgate via Faversham also affected.
Southeastern has set up special trains between Ramsgate and Faversham, and Dover to Faversham. A replacement bus service operates between Faversham and Gillingham to help patch the gap.
Expect Delays Up to 40 Minutes, Repairs Underway
A Southeastern spokesperson warned: “Urgent repairs to the track between Gillingham and Faversham means train services through these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes, or revised. Disruption is expected until the end of the day.”
