As part of the ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and create more reliable journeys, a significant upgrade is underway at M25 junction 10, also known as the A3 Wisley Interchange. The project, which commenced in the summer of 2022, is scheduled to conclude in the summer of 2025 with an estimated cost of £317 million.

Latest Updates:

  • Full Weekend Closure: From Friday, May 10, at 9 pm until Monday, May 13, at 6 am, the M25 between junctions 9 (A243 Leatherhead) and 10 (A3 Wisley) will be closed in both directions to facilitate the installation of a new bridge.
  • Purpose: The closure is necessary to install a new bridge, a crucial component of the ongoing upgrade project.
  • Travel Advisory: Motorists are advised to only travel if necessary during the closure period. Alternative routes are recommended to avoid disruption.

Diversion Routes:

  • Clockwise Diversion: For all but over-height vehicles, a 19-mile diversion route via the A3 and the A240 has been established. Drivers are urged to follow the diversion and refrain from relying solely on SatNav directions.
  • Anticlockwise Diversion: Similar diversion routes are provided for anticlockwise travel, ensuring minimal disruption and efficient traffic management during the closure.
  • ULEZ Charges: Drivers using the signed diversion routes will not incur Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) charges that may usually apply in London. The Ultra Low Emission Zone will remain in force on all other routes in London across the weekend.
  • Over-Height Vehicles: Special diversion routes are designated for over-height vehicles to avoid low bridges and ensure safe passage.

Future Closures:

  • Following the May closure, three more weekend closures are planned for the remainder of the year, with no closures scheduled for June. Details regarding the upcoming closures will be announced as soon as the May closure concludes.

The M25 junction 10 upgrade project aims to enhance the overall efficiency and safety of this vital interchange, benefiting commuters and motorists alike. For the latest closure information and updates, motorists are encouraged to check the official daily closures page.
