Christmas Day Car Attack and Arson Shakes Edinburgh
A man was attacked on Christmas Day just before 6pm, sparking a mystery that ended with a car being torched late that night.
Attack in West Pilton
The victim was assaulted by a man who slipped into the passenger side of a dark Volkswagen parked nearby. The suspect then fled the scene. Thankfully, the victim did not require hospital treatment.
The attacker is described as a white male, around 6ft tall, slim build, dressed head-to-toe in black – a padded jacket, jogging bottoms, and trainers.
Vehicle Set Ablaze Hours Later
Police investigations revealed that two men parked the suspect’s car in West Pilton Lea at about 6.45pm. Later, near midnight, an unknown man was spotted returning and setting the vehicle on fire.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
“This appears to have been a targeted attack and we can be thankful that the victim was not more seriously injured,” said Detective Inspector Kevin Tait from Corstorphine CID.
“We urge anyone who was in the Graysknowe or West Pilton Lea areas and saw anything suspicious on Christmas Day to come forward.”
