Following the detection of cryptosporidium in the Brixham area last week, around 16,500 households and businesses were issued a boil water notice, advising them to boil and cool their drinking water before consumption. South West Water has been working tirelessly to resolve the issue. On Saturday, May 18, the boil water notice was lifted for approximately 14,000 properties in its Alston supply area after water quality monitoring confirmed the absence of cryptosporidium.
