Romesh Ranganathan Returns to Host The Weakest Link
The nation’s favourite quick-fire quiz show, The Weakest Link, is back for a brand new celebrity series! This time, contestants will battle it out for up to £50,000 in charity cash by answering general knowledge questions. Only two celebrities will survive the cut-throat rounds for a head-to-head showdown to crown the winner.
Smashing Ratings and Star-Studded Fun
The show made a massive comeback in 2021 with comedian Romesh Ranganathan stepping into the hosting hot seat. It was a hit, pulling in 18.4 million viewers (30% audience share) and peaking at 5.3 million tuning in for the Strictly Come Dancing special.
“I’m delighted to be doing another series, partly because it’s a fun show and the response has been amazing, but mostly to avoid ‘Turns out Romesh was The Weakest Link’ headlines,”
said Romesh, bringing his usual wit to the show.
Backstabbing, Banter, and Big Prizes
Kate Phillips, Director of Unscripted at the BBC, promises the new series will serve up plenty of laughs and even more classic backstabbing.
“Led once again by our Ringmaster Romesh, viewers can expect plenty more laughs and almost certainly loads of back stabbing as the nation’s favourite quick 1 quiz returns, I can’t wait!”
Producer Pete Ogden is equally thrilled:
“I am so excited to make The Weakest Link again out of Pacific Quay. It was fantastic to see the previous series perform so well with viewers, and there’s nothing we enjoy more than putting celebrities under pressure and forcing them to vote each other out. Romesh is a joy to work with, and I can’t wait to put him in front of another group of celebrities.”
Filming in Glasgow – Coming Soon to BBC One and iPlayer
The new series will be filmed at BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow and is set to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in 2022. Get ready for a fresh dose of drama, wit, and that iconic zinger, “You are the weakest link – goodbye!”
