Driver Nabbed on M40 with Stash of Drugs and Fake Plates

Christopher McLean’s joyride on the M40 near Warwick came to a crashing halt on February 3 after police pulled him over for suspected fake number plates.

Bin Bags Full of Trouble

Officers spotted two open bin bags on the back seat during the stop. A quick search uncovered a serious haul: 1.5kg of cannabis resin, 5.9kg of amphetamine, and another 3.3kg of cannabis. The car was confirmed to be sporting false plates, and McLean was found to be disqualified from driving.

Dragged to Court, Jailed for Over Four Years

McLean, from Ashbourne Road, refused to explain himself. Charged with multiple offences — including possession with intent to supply cannabis and amphetamines, driving while disqualified, and no insurance — he appeared before the court the next day.

Bailed initially, McLean was back in Warwick Crown Court on April 14. There, he pled guilty and was handed a hefty 51-month prison sentence. Crime doesn’t pay, especially on the M40.
