Serial Rapist Andy Anokye Jailed for 30 Years After Horrific Crimes
Monstrous Offender’s Reign of Terror
Andy Anokye, 33, subjected four women to repeated rape over two years. His vile abuse included imprisonment, torture, and humiliation. He even made recordings of his sick offences.
Violent Past and Tough Justice
Before these crimes, Anokye was no stranger to violence, with eight prior convictions mostly involving violent offences.
Sentence Upped After Appeal
Initially, Bristol Crown Court sentenced Anokye to 24 years behind bars plus a 5-year licence extension on 30 July 2020. But the Solicitor General found the sentence too lenient and referred it to the Court of Appeal.
On 15 January 2021, the Court of Appeal branded Anokye a Dangerous Offender. They slammed his sentence as unduly lenient and boosted it to 30 years imprisonment plus 5 years on licence.
Solicitor General Reacts
“Anokye’s crimes were truly shocking. The Court of Appeal’s decision to increase his sentence recognises the severity of the abuse he inflicted.” — Rt Hon Michael Ellis QC MP, Solicitor General
