Care Worker Stole Thousands from Vulnerable Client
Alison James, 37, has been caught pocketing large sums of cash from a vulnerable woman’s bank account between December 2020 and September 2021.
Shock Abuse of Trust Revealed
Using her client’s bankcard, James withdrew money for her own benefit. Police were tipped off after a care provider grew suspicious of her actions.
At first, James denied everything. But faced with undeniable evidence, she finally admitted to stealing thousands.
James Sentenced at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court
On 14 March, James of Alwyn Road, Aspley, pleaded guilty to fraud by abuse of position at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
She was handed a six-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work, and pay back £2,500.
Police Condemn the Crime
“This was a very sad case in which a highly vulnerable woman lost money,” said Detective Sergeant Thomas Rawlings of Nottinghamshire Police. “Because of her health, the victim had difficulty communicating, which James took advantage of.
“She was in a position of trust but exploited the victim repeatedly for personal gain. We hope this sends a strong message that Nottinghamshire Police is serious about tackling fraud and financial abuse.
“We are glad to have brought James to justice and hold her accountable.”
