Sex Offender Busted Again After Betraying Trust
Kevin Challen, 55, from Worthing, was first caught in March 2021 with indecent images of children on his computer. He dodged jail with a 10-month suspended sentence, a 10-year spot on the Sex Offenders Register, and strict restrictions under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Broke His Own Rules, Preyed on a Child
While serving his suspended sentence, Challen smashed his SHPO conditions. Using lies and deception, he wormed his way into the confidence of family friends and started messaging a 12-year-old child.

The child had the courage to tell their parents about Challen’s disturbing messages. Sussex Police quickly swooped and arrested him again.
31 Months Inside, Lifetime Ban Enforced
After a thorough probe, Challen was charged with three breaches of his SHPO and failing to comply with Sex Offenders Register rules. He pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on 15 March and was slapped with a 31-month prison sentence. His SHPO was extended indefinitely.
Crime investigator Dawn Hosken said: “I would like to commend the victim for their bravery in coming forward and to the wit…”
