Northumbria Police have launched an urgent investigation after a man was found dead in a Gateshead park early this morning. Emergency teams were called at around 6:10am to a grassy patch off Shipcote Lane.

Tragically, officers confirmed the man, believed to be in his 50s, was deceased at the scene.
