Child Sex Predator Peter Hammond Jailed for Over Five Years
Peter Hammond, 62, was finally exposed after his young victim found the courage to tell her parents about the years of abuse. Hammond admitted to police that he had sexual contact with the girl when she was just four or five. He claimed the accusations were “blown out of proportion,” but a jury saw through his lies.
Hammond’s Sick Crimes Spanned Four Years
The offences took place between 2013 and 2017. Last month, at Nottingham Crown Court, Hammond was convicted of two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13 and one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Today (Friday), Hammond, of Lady Bay Road, West Bridgford, was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison. He was also placed on the sex offenders’ register for ten years.
Detective Praises Victim’s Bravery
“This was a harrowing and deeply unpleasant case that exposed Hammond as a devious and manipulative sexual predator,” said Detective Constable Marie Platt of Nottinghamshire Police. “His actions have had a profound impact on his victim and her family. My thoughts are with them as the legal process ends.”
“It’s regrettable Hammond forced them through a traumatic trial, but I’m pleased justice has been served. Thanks to the bravery and dignity of his victim, the court had powerful evidence leading to his conviction.”
Police Urge Other Victims to Speak Out
Detective Platt added: “This case proves it doesn’t matter how long ago abuse happened – what matters is that it did happen. We urge anyone with historical allegations to come forward. We will listen, investigate, and do everything to secure justice.”
