A dealer was caught red-handed at a McDonald’s drive-through in Medway and has landed himself a three-year jail term.
Locked Up After £1,100 Worth of Cocaine Found
Lewis Nelson-Iye, 34, from Avery Way, Rochester, was nabbed with cocaine valued at up to £1,100. Police stopped a black Mercedes at the Gillingham outlet in April 2019, where the stash was discovered.
Undercover Cops Tail Mercedes Linked to Drug Dealing
- Plainclothes Kent Police spotted the car driving through the Medway Tunnel on 16 April 2019.
- The vehicle was linked to drug activity in the area.
- Officers followed it to a McDonald’s in Beechings Way, where it entered the drive-through.
- They stopped the car immediately after it exited.
Nelson-Iye, a front-seat passenger, promptly admitted to possessing a class A drug and pointed officers to the cocaine hidden in the centre console. Tests confirmed the substance, and a stash of cash was found in his pocket. Smaller quantities and drug-dealing paraphernalia were seized from his home.
Police Praise Sharp Off-Duty Action
“This case shows the sharp knowledge our officers have of local drug supply,” said PC Jill Stoneham, investigating officer for Kent Police.
“The vehicle looked ordinary but our team acted fast to safely stop it and seize drugs destined for our streets. Nelson-Iye had no choice but to admit guilt and now faces a hefty sentence.”
