Trusted Figure Jailed for Horrific Abuse
David Beater has been locked up for preying on those who trusted him. The 80-year-old subjected two victims to a relentless campaign of sexual abuse.
Crimes Spanning Years Finally Exposed
The sickening offences were first reported to kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police back in 2017. After a thorough probe, Beater admitted to five counts of sexual abuse.
He was sentenced to four-and-a-half years behind bars at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday 23 August 2021. Beater lives on Minnis Road, Birchington.
Police Praise Victims’ Courage
“Owing to the position Beater occupied, people naturally trusted him and viewed him as a person to turn to for support,” said Detective Chief Inspector Keith Roberts, Kent Police.
“He abused this trust in the worst possible way. Many years may have passed, but that does not undo the harm he’s caused.”
