Ex-Teacher, 75, Faces Court Over Historic Child Sex Claims

Piers Le Cheminant, 75, a retiree from Newton Abbot, Devon, is set to appear at Worthing Magistrates Court on 2nd February 2021. He faces shocking charges of indecently assaulting 10 boys between 1966 and 1980 at Oakwood Preparatory School, Chichester.

Further Charges From Salisbury Cathedral School

Le Cheminant is also accused of sexually assaulting five boys at Salisbury Cathedral School between 1981 and 1985. The disturbing allegations span nearly two decades and involve multiple victims.

Police & Schools Respond to Historic Abuse Claims

The charges follow a Sussex Police investigation after new information came to light in 2017. The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the case. Police stressed the allegations are historic—dating back over 35 years—and are unrelated to any current school staff or pupils.

Both Oakwood and Salisbury Cathedral School’s current management have fully supported the probe. They have cooperated with detectives every step of the way.
