Essex Police Crack Down on Just Stop Oil Protesters Amid Tube Strike Chaos
Essex Police sprang into action to boot out protesters who flouted a court order by flipping the bird for less than a week. The disruption comes on top of today’s tube strike turmoil, with chaos spotted around Junction 28-29 on the M25.
Meanwhile, kent-police/" title="Kent Police" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Kent Police have deployed hundreds of officers to patrol motorway gantries, aiming to stop the mobs from breaking through and wreaking havoc again.
Home Secretary Suella Braverman Demands Tough Action
Home Secretary Suella Braverman has slammed law enforcement for “humouring” the militant environmental group Just Stop Oil after their fourth consecutive day of mayhem on the M25.
“We have seen a decline in confidence in the police to take action against radicals, roadblockers, vandals, militants, and extremists in recent months and years,” Braverman said.
“Although most police officers do an excellent job, we have seen the police appear to lose faith in themselves – in your authority and your power – an institutional reluctance. Criminal damage, obstructing the highway, public nuisance – none of this should be tolerated.”
“Scenes of members of the public taking the law into their own hands indicate a loss of confidence. I urge you all to rise to your public responsibilities.”
Police Injury Sparks More Calls for Action
The protests have already caused a serious collision on the M25, injuring a police constable. Braverman accused officers of letting protests spiral because they hesitate to clamp down on “criminal disruption.”
She warned this reluctance is driving citizens to take justice into their own hands, signalling a dangerous loss of faith in policing.
Battle Lines Drawn on M25 as Protests Escalate
- Protesters continue to target motorway junctions, causing traffic chaos.
- Hundreds of Kent Police officers deployed to block access points.
- Essex Police enforce court orders to remove unlawful protesters.
- Home Secretary demands a tougher police response to prevent further disruption.
The standoff shows no signs of ending soon as authorities grapple with the biggest wave of Just Stop Oil protests yet.
