Herne Bay Child Abuser Jailed for Over Four Years
Neil Williams, 51, from Herne Bay, has been locked up for four years and six months for repeatedly sexually abusing a child between 2014 and 2017.
Abuse Exposed After Brave Victim Speaks Out
The shocking crimes first came to light when the victim bravely reported the abuse to Kent Police on 6 March 2019. Williams was arrested just a month later. An investigation uncovered multiple assaults, during which Williams warned the child to keep silent.
Denial Fails as Guilty Plea Secures Justice
Initially, Williams tried to dodge the charges, falsely claiming any contact was a medical examination misunderstanding. But he eventually pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to two counts of child sexual abuse.
Extended Sentence and Lifelong Ban
On 23 April 2020, Williams was handed his jail term plus an extended licence period of four years. He is also subject to an indefinite sexual harm prevention order to keep the public safe.
“Williams caused immeasurable trauma to a young, vulnerable child,” said Detective Constable Becki Taft of the West Kent Vulnerability Investigation Team. “Thankfully, the victim’s bravery has helped deliver justice. It’s never too late to report sexual offences – we handle all information with utmost sensitivity and confidentiality.”
